Cooking School!
I am so excited! I have recently rediscovered my passion for cooking and baking. I.Love.It! Food gives me all those warm happy cozy feeling. It’s a way for me to express my love and appreciation for others. It’s something I’ve been doing since I was young and incidentally as a teenager became the cook in the family, which was a role I LOVED. Now I want to learn how to REALLY cook. I want to know the hows and the whys you’re supposed to do what the recipe tells you to do, and more, I want to CREATE my own delicious food.
So, I am taking the next step.
I’m allowing myself to be completely obsessed and immersed in all things culinary, which honestly isn’t a far cry from what I already am. I’ve decided to start with taking local classes. I discovered the New York Culinary along with a place called The Kitchen that has some great topics that they cover in their classes.
Also? I purchased some highly rated really-teach-you-how-to-cook cookbooks. Not just a bunch of books with a bunch of recipes. They just arrived today. See!!

I’m CRAZY excited.
Whether you like her or not, the woman knows how to cook. I’m planning on adding a few others to my repertoire including Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” and everything I find by the New York Culinary Institute.
I’m also contacting the local culinary schools (yes, we have the famous Le Cordon Bleu here) to see what all is involved along and a few other logistics. You know, being a parent, if we will stay in NYC area or not, and, of course loans/scholarships, etc. If after all this, it’s something I want to continue to pursue, then it’s back to school I go! So excited right now. Who cares if I’ll be the oldest one there or not? Surely not, right? Maybe?
I, however, know I do NOT want to spend my life working in a hot restaurant with late nights and long hours. Yuck! How about a culinary teacher, a food writer, a food stylist, or possibly open up my own bakery/cafe. Who knows? I’m just gonna follow my passion and see where it leads.
I want to teach my lil guys to shoot for the stars and believe that dreams come true. That’s a lesson that sinks in deeper by observing their parents than by talking their ears off don’t you think? So kids, watch me soar.
